Is it really so bad?

Sure prices are high and it's hard on working class families.  The up side is that at $5.00 a gallon, Detroit is FINALLY getting the message and is moving to energy efficient autos because demand has never been higher.  Those gas guzzling F250's (which designates that it costs $250 to fill the tank) will disappear from the rear view mirror.  As will all those giant SUVs.  You know the ones that are named for all the places that they're destroying, like Sierra, Yukon, Denali.

During the oil embargo of 1974,  I wanted gas to go to a whopping $3.00 a gallon.  The U.S. would be in a far better place now if that had happened.  We would have reached energy independence years ago,  the oil producing middle east would have had less money to support terrorism and maybe we would have had a handle on global warming.   Nothing speaks louder than money.  It's the American way to change behavior.  So let's bite the bullet.  Nothing else worked.
