McCain or Obama? The information pages on this site have stayed away from politics. The Forum area however, is the place to vent. I used to have some respect for McCain as somewhat of a maverick. These days he is talking like just good-old-boy Republican John. For example, Ohio is a swing state that has a lot of coal. John is pandering up to the folks there to get their votes, saying that he'll give billions toward clean coal research. John, you and I know there is just cleaner coal, not clean coal. And don't get me started about off-shore drilling! OK, I started. Are we really going to say that if we didn't have so much environmental protection and allowed drilling everywhere, that America's fuel problems would have disappeared? In all fairness, John hasn't said that directly. He only alluded to it. John, you can't be an environmentalist (though I grant that you did co-author environmental legislation) and at the same time, blame the environmentalists for the high cost of fuel. As for Obama. He seems like a savvy enough politician to know that you stay focused on the economy in order to get to that oval office. He does understand the urgency of action and has spoken about large federal increases in support for alternative energy. He knows that could easily be tied to the economy, creating thousands of new jobs. It could easily rival the CCC of the 1930's that was responsible for much of our nations infrastructure. Let's hope for the best and choose wisely (for a change). Pun intended. Let me know what you think. -Rick
