Second Annual Enviro Expo USA Moves to the Georgia World Congress Center, on November 14-15, 2009 Free, family-friendly event will be in the center of the Zero Waste Zone to motivate and educate the public on living more environmentally friendly lifestyles by “going green”. ATLANTA (June 25, 2009)—Organizers of the second annual Enviro Expo USA announce a major move to the Georgia World Congress Center. The green consumer expo moves to the center of Atlanta’s Zero Waste Zone to serve as a case study for The Department of Natural Resources (DNR). The case study will determine the event’s carbon footprint and measure the amount of recycled waste the Expo saves from going to the landfill. With a goal to recycle the entire event to as close to zero waste as possible, Enviro Expo USA also celebrates America Recycles Day, November 15, through a partnership with the Georgia Recycling Coalition (GRC). According to Roy Edwards, Department of Natural Resources, “The goal of zero waste is a close loop system for perceived waste materials. Waste causes great loss of value and resources. Humans are the only species that create waste. We can eliminate waste at events, thereby saving money and achieving a more sustainable world. The zero waste initiative supports the goals of sustainability – economic well-being, environmental protection and social well-being.” Enviro Expo USA takes place on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 14-15, 2009, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and strives to educate and motivate the community to be better stewards of the environment. The family-friendly event offers free admission and the latest in eco-friendly products and services for “going green”. In addition to displays and information from a full spectrum of businesses, suppliers, manufacturers and green experts, this year’s Enviro Expo USA also features several new eco areas and speaker panels. New eco areas include an Eco Garden created by Legacy Landscapes, a “Tying the GREEN Knot” wedding area, the Kids Zone featuring the Captain Planet Foundation sponsored “Did you know” Video Contest held within the Metro Atlanta School Systems, the Chef’s Corner highlighting local restaurants and caterers featuring samples of seasonal foods, and holiday “green” shopping in the expanded new Marketplace. The Speaker Series, sponsored by SoutheastGreen.com, features green panel discussions on: Conservation, Home and Garden, Recycling/Composting and the Green Town Hall Meeting. Also, Justin Cave, star of Ground Breakers on HGTV, hosts an individual presentation. To learn more about Enviro Expo USA, visit www.enviroexpousa.org. Dianne Bennett, Expo organizer, says that, “The Expo serves as an opportunity to promote green companies that sell green products and services, to develop partnerships between green organizations, to help green non-profits fundraise and increase membership, to speak the green word, to serve the community and to make a difference.” Enviro Expo USA is still accepting new sponsors and vendors and extends special discounts for GRC members.
